Better late…

This version 2.0.1 of Solarus is arriving a little late, that’s true. We’re facing unforeseen difficulties on several levels. But, being tenacious as we are, we’ve finally found a solution to offer you the new version of Solarus now.

That’s why you can download Solarus 2.0.1 for Windows, macOS, and Linux. This time, both the editor and the launcher are available on all these platforms.

Stability and backward compatibility

We’ve fixed major bugs that were blocking both creators and players.

Solarus 2.0.1 is much more stable than 2.0.0; we spent a lot of time testing Solarus 1.6 projects with this new version. Crashes have been eradicated, and errors and bugs related to teleportation, camera tracking, sprites, joypads, and audio have been fixed.

The editor has also been improved; we’ve reorganized the various panels, which now leave more room for mapping. We’re working to make everything more customizable in future releases of Solarus.

There are still a few bugs that have already been identified, and we’re already working on fixing them for the next 2.0.2 release, which will likely arrive in the next few weeks.

Ambitious projects on Solarus 2

We also want to give a little shoutout to the talented developers who chose Solarus 2 for their project:

Git repository

A quick note for developers using the Gitlab repository: there is no v2.0.1 tag at this time. We’ve decided to release Solarus by only providing builds for a specific commit. The tag will be created later when we have stabilized our continuous deployment system.
